Order a phone

The phone they already know.

A proper home phone with your family's photos on the buttons. It arrives set up and works from any power point. No NBN, no smartphone, nothing new to learn.

Australia-wide delivery · SIM included · Set up before it ships

Go on, press a face.

What it is

Pick up. Press a face. Talk.

A Hallway Phone looks and works like the phone Mum and Dad have used all their lives: a real receiver to pick up, big buttons to press, a proper ring. Three photo buttons down the right-hand side call the people who matter with one press.

Inside the box it runs on the mobile network, so there is no landline to connect and no NBN to worry about. It arrives with your photos and numbers already in place. Plug it into the power point and it works.

  • A real receiverLift it to answer, put it down to hang up. No screen, no swiping, no charging overnight.
  • Three photo buttonsYour photos, printed and fitted by us. One press rings that person. The number pad still works for everyone else.
  • Its own numberThe phone has an ordinary Australian mobile number. Family ring it from anywhere, just like calling a mobile.
  • Nothing to installThe small box beside the phone connects to the mobile network. One power point is all it needs.
How it works

You do ten minutes. We do the rest.

  1. Tell us who they call

Upload three photos, with a name and number for each. A son or daughter, a grandchild, the doctor's rooms.

  2. We build it

Photos printed and fitted, every number programmed, the SIM activated and the whole phone tested with real calls before it leaves us.

  3. Plug it in

One power point. No technician, no NBN, no set-up at their end. The first call can be to you.

Pricing

One set-up price. One small monthly bill.

The set-up price covers the phone, the box that connects it, and our time fitting your photos and testing it. The monthly price covers the mobile service, so there's no separate phone company to deal with.

Good to know before you order

  • It needs mains power, like a cordless phone. It will not work during a power cut.
  • It needs mobile reception at their home. We check coverage at the address before we build anything, and tell you if it's not good enough.
  • It is a home phone, not a medical or emergency alarm. If they need a monitored alarm, keep that as well.

Questions

What families ask us

Do they need the NBN or a landline?

No. The phone connects through the mobile network using the small box that comes with it. There is no wall socket to find and nothing to arrange with a phone company.

Can they keep their old home number?

Not at the moment. A Hallway Phone comes with a new Australian mobile number, which we print on a card for the phone and send to you so you can share it with family.

Can they still dial numbers the ordinary way?

Yes. The photo buttons are shortcuts. The number pad works like any home phone for everyone else, including 000.

What if reception at their place is poor?

We check coverage for the address before we build the phone. If it isn't good enough for clear calls we will tell you and not take the order any further.

Does it work in a power cut?

No. Like a cordless phone or an NBN phone, it needs mains power. If they rely on a phone during outages, keep a charged mobile in the house too.

What if someone's number changes, or we want a different photo?

Email us the new photo or number. We'll post a new printed insert and talk you through the two-minute change, or you can send the phone back and we'll do it.

What photos work best?

A clear, close photo of one face, looking at the camera, in good light. We crop each one square. Phone photos are fine. Tiny or blurry pictures don't print well, and the order form will warn you if one looks too small.

When do I pay?

You pay the set-up price by card at the end of the order form, on Stripe's secure checkout page. If we find mobile coverage at their address isn't good enough, we refund it in full. The monthly service is only charged once the phone is delivered and working. If you'd rather pay after we've checked coverage, you can send the order without paying and we'll email you a payment link.

Why do you need to check ID?

Australian law requires identity to be confirmed before any mobile service is switched on. We do this with you over the phone after you order. Please don't send ID documents through the website.
